The
SBIR Model 104 High Resolution Differential Thermometer provides high
accuracy temperature measurement without sacrificing ease of use.
The Model 104 is suitable both for general-purpose thermometry and
for specialized applications such as the calibration of differential
blackbody sources. Two ultra-stable thermistor probes are included,
allowing the instrument to simultaneously display the temperature
of two points and also the temperature difference between these two
points. |

Advanced
Probe Design
Thermistor temperature sensors are more rugged than platinum resistance
thermometers. The selected thermistor material is hermetically sealed
and aged (annealed) to achieve basic stability equal to the best industrial
platinum sensors. The digital processing of the sensor output solves the
linearization and interchangeability problems normally associated with
thermistors. The result is a sensor with the high accuracy and stability
of wirewound platinum, and the improved ruggedness of a thermistor. The
innovative temperature sensors are easy to install and remove. The long
probe body greatly reduces stem conduction errors.
High
Accuracy and Stability
The temperature measurement circuitry of the Model 104 has been optimized
for high accuracy and stability. Critical analog circuitry is carefully
shielded and isolated to ensure precise measurements in changing ambient
conditions.
Ease
Of Calibration
Model 104 features SBIRs innovative closed case calibration scheme.
The thermometer is calibrated without internal trimpot adjustments or
reprogramming of EPROMs. This fast and easy digital calibration method
is incorporated into many SBIR instruments.
Recorder
Output
An analog output is provided which is proportional to the measured temperature.
The absolute temperature of probe 1, the absolute temperature of probe
2, or the differential temperature may be selected as the output.
Alternate
Temperature Sensor Calibration
Calibration data for two sets of temperature probes (total of four probes)
can be stored in the instrument. The alternate probes have an internal
code which is read by the instrument so that the proper calibration curve
is applied automatically.

IEEE
Std. 488 Computer Interface (GPIB) (Option G)
This option allows temperature to be read over the IEEE Bus, making the
instrument suitable for automatic test and calibration applications.
RS-232
Serial Interface (Option S)
An optional Serial interface provides computer control of all thermometer
and readout functions.
Rack
Mounting
The thermometer is designed for bench top or standard 19" rack use.
Rack mounting ears come standard with the instrument. A rack slide kit
is also available.
Additional
Probe Set
A second set of probes is available. Other styles are available to meet
specific customer applications. High temperature probes are available
for temperature measurement up to 200º C.
