Mechanical Engineer   Top

Responsibilities:
Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Mechanical Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer's primary responsibility will be to research, design, develop and test mechanical designs of infrared test equipment. The engineer will be involved with product design including concepts, design reviews, documentation release and integration. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with other engineering disciples to design mechanisms, precision optical mounts and product packaging. The engineer will create new designs and perform related design modifications, malfunction and failure investigations and evaluations, technical report preparation and similar ancillary duties.

Requirements:
BS, ME or equivalent education; 1-3 years of experience desired. Experience using Solid Works is required. Optical design and IDCA design experience is desired. Software Engineer Intern   Top

Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain Windows-based applications, as well as embedded micro code. Assist Software Developers as needed with everything from writing software specs to testing code to updating manuals. Assist in trouble-shooting software and hardware problems. C++ experience necessary. Experience with Linux is preferred. Other duties may be assigned.

Mechanical Engineer Intern   Top

Responsibilities:
SBIR is currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer Intern. The Mechanical Engineer Intern researches, designs, develops and test electrical designs of infrared test equipment. Working under technical direction, generates mechanical fabrication/assembly drawings, bill of materials, and engineering change orders. Executes tasks according to schedule and budget. Perform maintenance to SolidWorks vault. Uses SolidWorks to perform mechanical engineering drafting tasks.

Requirements:
The successful candidate must be enrolled in BS ME or have equivalent experience. Quality Assurance Inspector   Top

Responsibilities:
Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Quality Assurance Inspector. Knowledge of ISO 90001:2000 requirements, knowledge of AS 9000 and experience as an auditor is desirable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, company's quality control system for compliance with legal requirements, and shipping and packing facilities for conformity to specified standards. Analyzes and makes final inspection of electronic systems to ensure compliance with specifications. Approves acceptable equipment or recommends rejection, rework, or retest as required. Assists quality-engineering personnel in making periodic inspections and tests of components of systems. Inspects complex machined parts and assemblies, which involve numerous coordinated dimensions, exacting tolerances and compound angles and contours. Read blueprints and engineering drawings, schematics and/or specifications. Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability. Knowledge of the ISO 90001 Quality System and help with monitoring and evaluation of the elements of quality system for the purposes of continuous improvement. This position is temporary to start through an agency. Electro-Optics Assembler   Top

Responsibilities:
Assembly and modification for prototype and custom electronic parts and opto-mechanical systems, handling, mounting, protecting and cleaning of sensitive optics such as Off Axis Parabola mirrors, soldering components to printed circuit boards and fabricated metal items, as specified by work orders, diagrams or layout, assembly of routes and ties wires to form wire harness (cable) used in electrical and electronic equipment or systems, assembly of mechanical assemblies, which may include but are not limited to: fabricated metal items, electrical wires, circuit boards, mirrors, filters and windows.

Requirements:
Two to five years of assembly experience and the ability to work full time. Applications/Sales Engineer   Top

Responsibilities:
This is a full-time, regular position primarily tasked with the responsibility for sales, customer service and quote activities for Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. This role will comprise two primary areas of responsibility: 1) Works with customers to understand their products, capture their requirements, and prepare project proposals and contracts. 2) Providing technical support to customers and the field sales force. Support includes applications advice, product recommendations and technical problem resolution. - Meeting with customers over the phone, email, or on site to assist in technical aspects of business development - Searching for new clients who might benefit from company products or services - Making technical presentations and demonstrating how our products meet client needs - Managing and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs - Generating technical sales proposals and contracts (Statement of Work, Service Proposals) - Support Systems Engineering team for custom quotes to research component options and requesting quotes for outsourced components for projects or custom products - Maintaining records of customer communication and sales activity in Goldmine - Working with the engineering team to ensure development schedules and deliveries are being met - Install and configure SBIR equipment at customer sites (occasional requirement) - Attending and/or participating in trade shows, conferences and other marketing events - Help in developing support material for other members of the sales team and international sales reps - Resolving and managing customer expectations related to new builds and repairs - Other sales related tasks as they arise

Quality Engineer   Top

Responsibilities:
Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Quality Assurance Engineer. The Quality Assurance Engineer provides support for documentation of quality, inspection, production and improving processes on complex electro-optical test equipment and products. Quality Assurance Engineer - Responsibilities: Maintain the SBIR quality manual, and insure compliance with ISO 9001 standards. Develop and document quality inspection methods and procedures. Support and occasionally perform inspection on complex electro-optical products. Support and occasionally perform inspections on development and production parts. Work with Team Members and suppliers to resolve and avoid non-conformances. Review and completion of appropriate documentation is critical. Review and completion of appropriate documentation is critical. Identify and develop SPC based metric to monitor and drive continuous improvement in the factory Some travel may be needed to perform supplier quality functions Work with minimal supervision in a team environment. Perform other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:
Requirements Quality Assurance Engineer - Requirements/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Preferred) from an accredited college or university required and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3 Years minimum experience in Manufacturing or Quality Assurance; electro-optical experience preferred; experience and proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance and Standard Measurement & Test Equipment for Electro-optical products.
