IRWindows Screenshot on MonitorOverview:

IRWindows™4 from Santa Barbara Infrared is an advanced software tool that automates the setup, execution, data collection and results analysis for industry standard performance testing of infrared, visible and laser sensor systems. IRWindows™4 is the most advanced commercially available IR/EO sensor test software package in the industry today. It operates under Windows XP/Vista, and is delivered installed on a high-end PC computer platform with frame grabber(s) selected to support UUT video formats. It is also available as a software only package. IRWindows™4 combined with SBIR target projectors provides test engineers and technicians a turnkey, automated hardware/software solution for sensor testing.

The most significant features that differentiate IRWindows™4 from previous versions are :
  • UUT Centered Development
  • Editable Tests
  • Wizards and Templates
There are also several features that are significant evolutions to its' existing functionality, including:
  • Embeddable Operation (NI Test Stand compatibility)
  • Net-Centric Data Compatibility

UUT Centered Test Development

This simplifies the development of test suites to support complex UUTs and/or detailed test requirements based on stored UUT specifications and test strategies. It is the most far reaching upgrade to IRWindows™ 4 and has some of the most profound impact on test development. The original, Test Centered Development methodologies are still supported and will work in basically the same way (with new interfaces).

Wizards and Templates
UUT Centered Development provides an environment that takes advantage of pre-defined templates for standard test configurations and strategies, plus wizards that assist in creating UUT definitions, Test Configurations, and Test Strategies. Template and wizard examples include the following:

  • UUT Device Templates
    • IR Imaging
    • Visible Imaging
    • Laser Rangefinder
    • Laser Designator
  • Test Strategy Templates
    • Align and focus
    • Go/No Go
    • Characterization
  • Wizards assist
    • UUT Characterizations
    • Test Strategy Implementation
Editable Tests
Provides access at the code level for creating new tests and modifying existing test algorithms to satisfy unique test requirements.

Three Modes of Operation
In "Engineering Mode" tests, macros and strategies can be configured and executed interactively by the test engineer.

"Technician Mode" allows test macros that have been predefined by a test engineer to be safely run by a test technician.

"Embedded Mode" allows a system developer to launch tests using a generic DLL interface.

Easy to Use
Using an intuitive graphical user interface, the test engineer can quickly configure and run any of the tests included with IRWindows™ 4. Data collection and analysis is automated and test results can be printed, saved or exported for further analysis.

Complete Test Solution
IRWindows™ 4 operates under Windows XP and is delivered as a complete system that includes a high end PC with a remote interface and video capture card.

Accurate Test Results
Automated testing reduces test time and costs while improving the consistency and accuracy of test results. IRWindows™4 utilizes industry standard test methodologies and analysis techniques to provide the most accurate and complete test system available.
